Brief introduction of Master Shang Zong Xia Yang
The master has great kindness and is deeply versed in Zen meditation. He once meditated for more than eight hours every day. Before he became a monk, he read the Shurangama Sutra with great reverence and suddenly realized the profoundness of Buddhism. He then participated in the College Fasting and Precepts Society of Master Shangchan Xiayun of Lianyin Temple to study the precepts. He then visited temples in famous mountains and rivers, sought out good teachers to study Buddhism in depth, and meditated in seclusion many times. After coming out of seclusion, he studied the precepts in depth, and also visited the four famous mountains and holy places in India. He was inspired by eminent monks of all ages, and he fasted and meditated five times, all with different results.
Later, he became a monk because of the cause and effect of discussing the Avatamsaka Sutra with hundreds of monks, and received the three major ordinations of Tibetan and Northern traditions.
In the past ten years, he has given lectures in various Buddhist associations in Jakarta, Bali, Riau Islands and other places in Indonesia, as well as Penang, Johor and northern Malaysia. The Dharma has brought extraordinary benefits to local residents.
The master has a very profound understanding of the Mahayana sutras and has a deep comprehension and inquiry into the Prajna Sutras. In particular, he has more exquisite interpretations of Mahayana sutras such as the Avatamsaka Sutra, the Avatamsaka Sutra, and the Shurangama Sutra. When Master lectures on the sutras, he often uses the method of "embracing the common Dharma" to explain the scriptures, which is very impressive and fills people with joy. For more than ten years, Master has been spreading Buddhism in Taiwan, Mainland China, and Southeast Asia. The Kongoshan Buddhist Association and Honganji were established in Riau, Indonesia, and the Mani Zen Garden, Ksitigarbha Hall, and Xiangyun Jingshe were established in Penang, Malaysia. The Master's great wish is to sympathize with all sentient beings. In order to enable the public to recognize the correct Dharma, to cultivate more talents to spread the Dharma, to continue the Buddha's wisdom, and to not want the holy teachings to decline, he is currently preparing to build the Vajra Mountain Religious University in Indonesia, to lead both monks and lay people to focus on understanding and practice, to develop bodhicitta, to transform themselves and others, and to pray that all sentient beings can be free from suffering and obtain happiness, and that the Dharma will last for a long time.
